The AllMed Summer Health Fair and Blood Drive, held earlier this month on July 10, was a success. Despite the temperature reaching as high as 111 degrees, people braved the heat and got their screenings done and donated blood.
Our first annual health fair aimed to make preventive health services more convenient than ever for our Sacramento community. The AllMed team did on-site health screenings for things like
blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, as well as pap smears, mammograms, and more — all to help patients stay on track with their health.
Attendees didn’t just go home healthier, they also walked away with plenty of fun freebies, from snacks and custom-designed tote bags to stickers and masks. Three lucky patients also won raffle prizes, with the grand prize winner receiving a $100 Visa gift card while two other patients won Starbucks coffee and thermoses.
Considering the scale of the AllMed Summer Health Fair and Blood Drive, we wouldn’t have been able to do it on our own. The event was made possible with the help and support of our partners, volunteers, participating organizations, and most of all, you, our patients.
An extra special thanks from Vitalant and us here at AllMed to those who were able to give blood. Each person who donated will potentially save three lives. You deserve a pat on the back.
Thanks to this event’s success, we’ll be teaming up with Vitalant again to host future blood donation campaigns. Make sure to follow Vitalant and AllMed’s social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) to stay updated on future blood drives in the Sacramento area.
If you wish to donate blood, you can schedule an appointment here.
Nivano Physicians and Alinea Medical Imaging have been long-time partners of ours. We have regularly hosted events together in the past, and we once again teamed up at this health fair to help women stay up-to-date with their health screenings, such as mammograms and pap smears.
A mammogram is considered the best tool to detect breast cancer early. While women can do breast self-exams at home, there could be lumps that aren’t sizable enough to feel yet. That’s why mammograms are vital to ensure that you and your doctor don’t miss any atypical changes in your breast tissues.
Cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer death among women in the US. Thanks to more women regularly getting pap tests, though, that number has now declined significantly. A pap smear (also known as a pap test) detects cellular abnormalities in a woman’s cervix that could lead to cervical cancer.
If you weren’t able to make it to the event, don’t worry, because we will be setting up women’s health screenings again in the future. Stay tuned for more information.
Everyone here at AllMed extends a huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers who offered their time and skills for the health fair. Carrie Meyers, Christian Sullivan, Gabriela Garcia, and Karam Alani — our visiting photographer — made this event more fun and memorable.
We would also like to recognize the various organizations present at the health fair, including Gurnick Academy,
MTI College,
Mutual Assistance Network, and many more. Each had representatives who answered questions and handed out informational pamphlets and even freebies.
The AllMed Summer Health Fair and Blood Drive was our way of giving back to Sacramento, and it also turned out to be an excellent opportunity to build better teamwork and stronger camaraderie among the AllMed staff.
We all worked together for a cause bigger than ourselves, and our hard work and cooperation didn’t just pay off, it showed in the faces of those who were there. It brought us closer together, and we are more ready than ever for our next great event.
As always, everything we do is for our patients. While we’re excited to host more events to come, don’t hesitate to reach out. Give us a call or schedule an appointment on our website, and we will set up your next health screening right away. Together, we can all build a healthier Sacramento.
